I was an art major at Scripps College in Claremont, California studying still life, the figure and design with Millard Sheets and Henry Lee McFee. I started painting landscapes in oil when my family and I moved to 12 acres in Freshwater in 1963. I took refresher art courses from Jon Bodkin and Janie Clarke. I joined the RAA in 1965 and met Hobart Brown. I had my first one-person show at his Eureka gallery in 1967. I continued showing with his gallery after it moved to Ferndale, including several "Art for Heart" events and venues at the Palm Springs Desert Museum and in Weaverville.
I joined the Gypsy Painters in the '70's. We traveled the county painting historic houses, Indian sites and various nature locations. We had shows of historic houses at White House Furniture and a big group exhibition with Jack Mays at the old First Street Cultural Center in 1974.
I continued painting in the '80's and '90's while traveling and camping in several national and state parks. Canvases of Prairie Creek are still featured in Hobart's gallery in Ferndale.
I have recently painted established local gardens. Shows since 2000 have been at the Eureka Senior Center, medical offices, Considerations gallery, RAA, the Ink People and Timberidge.
